The Bagh was ideated and constructed in 1633 by general Asif Khan, elder brother of queen Noor Jehan.

  • Shalimar Garden:-

The Shalimar Gardens in Kashmir was held in high esteem by the Mughal rulers. The Mughal Emperor Jahangir was very much mesmerised by the beauty of the ‘bagh’ or garden, describing it as “one of the wonders of the Kashmir valley”. It is situated on the north-east of the Dal lake at a distance of 15km from the heart of Srinagar city. It was built by Emperor Salim or Jahangir as Farah Baksh (“the delightful”) in 1619, while giving form to the present-day Srinagar city.

  • Cheshma Shahi

Cheshma Shahi (the royal spring), also known as Chashma Shahi, is another ravishing beauty of a garden, built by Ali Mardan, the governor of Emperor Shahjahan in 1632.  Built around a lovely spring, the Cheshma Shahi is situated in the Zaberwan Range close to the Governor’s residence or Rajbhawan.
